Cool weather calls for cosy sewing! Here, I’ve rustled up some of the best places to buy corduroy fabric in New Zealand AND some of the patterns I think would pair excellently with cosy cord!
Cobden Chore Jacket
The Muna and Broad Cobden Chore Jacket in corduroy may well be my main plan for the next couple of months!
Ora Pinafore
The Soften Studio Ora Pinafore unfortunately has a size range which will exclude a lot of my print customers, but this pattern would love some cosy corduroy!
Kidman Jacket
The Elbe Textiles Kidman Jacket doesn’t have corduroy specifically suggested as a fabric, but it’s definitely asking for the corduroy treatment!
Salida Skirt
With the sample photo in corduroy, you don’t need to imagine the True Bias Salida Skirt getting the cosy treatment!
Buying corduroy in New Zealand (and Aus)
- The Fine Cloth Company has a lovely selection of colourful corduroy at $22p/m (use this link to save $25)
- Potter and Co in Aus has a flat rate $30 shipping to NZ and has a nice selection of cord
- At $18p/m The Fabric Shop (different to The Fabric Store) might take the prize for bargain cord!
- Backstreet Bargains always keeps a stock of cord, no matter the season
- Fabric Box in Auckland has a variety of cords from wide wale to pinwale (and in between)
- Baby cord from Hawes & Freer
Ormond Coat
In The Folds’ Ormond Coat even suggests corduroy in the fabric suggestions! There’s 2 views- the long length pictured here and a shorter, hip-lengthed view
Taylor Trousers
The Taylor Trousers from Blackbird Fabric’s pattern line have a great size range and that back fit looks very compelling!
Ivy Pinafore
The Jennifer Lauren Handmade Ivy Pinafore is asking for the corduroy treatment! I can just imagine it layered over a merino turtleneck and some tights!
Sculthorpe Pants
The Muna and Broad Sculthorpe Pants are super quick to sew, and extra comfie with an elastic waistband. Another peek into my own autumn sewing plans!
Ruby Overalls
Helen’s Closet has photographed their Ruby Overalls in corduroy so you don’t have to imagine the outcome!
